Description
In solid form, Virgin PTFE is available as compression-moulded sheets, rods, and tubes, as well as extruded profiles and pipes — all suitable for precision machining and custom component fabrication. Its near-universal chemical compatibility makes it the material of choice for aggressive environments in chemical processing, pharmaceutical, food, semiconductor, and fluid-handling industries.
Hi-Tech Polymers has been processing and machining Virgin PTFE for over three decades. Our in-house machining facility — equipped with CNC lathes, VMCs, and precision turning centres — enables us to manufacture tight-tolerance PTFE components directly from raw stock to finished part, giving customers a single-source solution for both material and machining.
Key Properties
- Chemical Resistance: Virtually universal — resistant to almost all acids, bases, solvents, and oxidising agents.
- Operating Temperature: -200°C to +260°C continuous, with short-term excursions up to 300°C.
- Coefficient of Friction: 0.04–0.10, among the lowest of any solid material.
- Dielectric Strength: Excellent — widely used as an electrical insulating material.
- Moisture Absorption: Less than 0.01%, making it essentially moisture-resistant.
- Density: Approximately 2.12–2.20 g/cm³.
- Hardness: Shore D 50–65.
- Flame Rating: V-0 — inherently non-flammable.
- FDA / Food Grade: Meets FDA 21 CFR standards in virgin grade.
Grades Available
- Virgin PTFE (Natural / White) — Standard unfilled grade; 100% pure resin
- Granular PTFE — Compression moulded; suited for large billets and sheets
- Fine Powder PTFE — Paste-extruded; suited for tubes, liners, and tape
- FDA / Food-Contact PTFE — Complies with FDA 21 CFR 177.1550
- High-Purity PTFE — For pharmaceutical, semiconductor, and cleanroom environments
- Aqueous Dispersion Grade — For coatings and linings
